John May went without birthday and christmas presents for two years so that his parents could buy him his first decks at the age of 14 (they were technics - but certainly not 1200's!!) ; John started out as a hip hop/scratch DJ, this went on for a few years and in 1988 John discovered house!! ; In 92-93 John had a weekly slot on Freek FM (4 years) ; which was the leading underground house and garage station at the time. ; Assumption was set up in 1993 with John and 4 other DJ's, 1 MC, an artist and ; a sound engineer. ; After a few years everyone went their separate ways however John held on to the name. ; In 2009 Assumption was relaunched and has been going from strength to strength. ; The philosophy of Assumption is IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!! ; We keep to small venue's so that we can control the door and the music is nothing but REAL soulful house, the atmosphere is electric with a real party atmosphere!
